Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Red Sky at Night

The sky tonight -- which bodes well for tomorrow. And a reflection in one of the infamous Hubcaps on the barn wall...

Cliff Swallows come to Call

we are a bird watchers haven!
We have a bevy of cliff swallows -- not entirely sure where they are nesting, since they like to burrow into sandy cliffs, but they were lovely, posing on the wires, and zipping about eating mosquitoes.

Blessing of Bluebirds

Bluebirds! they are quite elusive to photograph, but I was able to get some pictures of Mom feeding the nestlings -- the fledglings left the nest today, so I was lucky to get these shots. And then Dad Bluebird was kind enough to stay still long enough for me to get some pictures of HIM as well! A good day, in the bluebird photographing dept.

Robin on the Hunt

Robin is being a very successful hunter!  This is the time of year the babies are out of the nests, and the parents are working overtime to feed them and teach them to hunt.

Sir George, the Order of the Garter (snake)

here's another look at how incredibly beautiful this garter snake is that David found. It was carefully relocated to a safe place, so it can carry on with its 'job'. Snakes are an important part of the eco-system. Garter snakes are harmless, and very beneficial.

Growing Like, well, like little Chickens!

Look how big our tiny baby chicks are getting!

Totally tubular Tuesday

Tuesdays at Bondi are Cook-out night on the beach. It's a tradition that stretches back to the 1950s, and has made incredible memories for so many families.

Hot dogs, fruit and veggies, s'mores (lots of s'mores -- s'more and s'more of 'em in fact!) Potato cannon demo and oh, yes, seed spitting.

Cheers to Jason Arno, who won with a distance of 35'7!
Wednesdays: Tube rides in the morning, pony rides in the afternoon! Bondi Village Resort is a happening place for our Bondi Kids!!    Grant enjoyed the water almost as much as Squeegee, who was having a grand time splashing.  Our new pony, Snowbird (Jade) politely took the 'big kids', so everybody got a turn.

And for our 'big kids', we have a certified massage therapist t who provides spa massages...  Wednesdays:  WOW

(I'm tempted to say that I'll bet you don't get all this at your airbnb rental...)

Wednesday is tubing day!

Scenes from our waterfront today. How wonderful to see everyone having fun at the lake.  Wednesday mornings we offer free tubing rides -- there were plenty of kids (and adults too!) lined up for that!
if not a tube ride, how about a float???

the ducklings came to call

David rocks the 150 shirt!

It's the Little Things

Come to the Lake

We have two vacancies for the week of July 15 to 22nd.

One is in RED PINE, a two bedroom cottage, facing the lake, with a big covered deck. Ideal for up to 5 people.  Just scamper down the lawn to the big sandpile and playhouse, the water trampoline and all the lake toys, or relax on the deck with your morning coffee listening to the loons.

The other is in BLACKBERRY, a three bedroom cottage, in a secluded forest setting, with a short walk to the main beach and all the resort facilities.  Dog friendly.  Quiet, comfortable, and you can bring Rover along.  We'll sell this as a two bedroom for the week for 4 people or less.

Red Pine is $1590/week; Blackberry is $2160/week.  Note that our rates include linens and towels, a canoe, a bbq, our weekly cookout, a tubing ride, pony ride, access to our free range hens and organic garden for produce, and all our resort amenities.  Yes, we have Wifi...  But we have a whole lot of stuff that is way more fun.  705 635 2261 or email info@bondi.on.ca

Happy Birthday John!

Happy 80th birthday John Woods. His first visit was on 1970. He's here this week  with a wonderful swarm of grandkids.  (and I am advised by his daughter Heather that 'swarm' is the correct term :)  ) Wonderful to celebrate these milestones with our Bondi families!

Beach Action

It doesn't rain all the time. Or even all day long.  There's lots of chances to get to the lake.  Clark, Jack and Grant were happy to show their friends Miles and Porter "the ropes" at Bondi.    There was plenty of Beach action ❤️❤️  It doe

Storms after Canada Day

Oh look, more storm clouds! At least it was sunny during the day and the kids were having a blast at the lake.  And, gosh, the photo op with those dramatic skies!

A Thing of Beauty

Synchronized lawn mowing. A thing of beauty. Even more lovely were the swallows, dipping and swooping behind the mowers. A swallow will consume about 900 mosquitoes a day. Our barn swallows, with 6 fledglings, are therefore snapping down about 7200 mosquitoes a day. Go team!!!!  (note that with one nest in the stable, we also have two other barn swallow nests, an uncounted number of tree swallows, and at least three phoebe nests.  Mosquitoes don't stand a chance)
