The low water level is doing great things for our sand beach Grandfather named the farm after the beach in Australia- because of the beach. The lake was later dammed and raised 5' Our beach got a little smaller.

Swallows, second time around

a second hatch!
They fill the barn with song, twittering and calling. They fill the barn with wings. They fill my heart. It horrifies me that they are now a species of concern, due to pesticide use and habitat loss. They eat 700 mosquitoes a day, they HAVE to catch insects in flight. They do no harm to anyone, and are beautiful beyond belief. With these five nests, we will add about 15 more to the sky. Fingers crossed for a safe migration. The photos of the hungry mouths are by Brendan Jaekl. This was yesterday. They are all out of nest today. (the adult bird photos are from Brian Floyd)

Disc Golf for the masses
anybody can play on our disc-golf course! Whether it's on the lawn, or across the road on the 12 target semi-pro course, it's fun for all ages. Michael proves the point. Thank you to Brendan for the picture

Karate and hot dogs
Totally tubular Tuesdays, with tubing in the morning and a cookout come evening! We had Black Belt Sensei Elizabeth lead a karate workshop in the afternoon too. And the seed spitting contest is always hotly contested. And Paul sang!
setting forth
Setting out for an evening paddle. We have kayaks for big people, little people, and even very little people. There is a beaver, a mink and a muskrat living in the bay, so lots to look for! Erika and Elizabeth take full advantage.
