Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Racing Clams

I've been 'silly busy', and have gotten behind in the Blog!   So much has happened!
The Annual Gathering of the Clams, to race for the Chowder Bowl, was August 2.  And 3rd.   And 4th... it takes days to complete the CLAM RACE.

It starts with the gathering -- we had 45 clams come to the starting line.  People come with silly hats (like the Epsom Derby, but perhaps less classy?  After all, Zack was wearing a watermelon, and you won't see THAT on Beatrice or Eugenie!)  It started with three pipers and drum from the Cameron of Lochiel Pipe and Drum Band, piping the trophy to the start...

Then the Muskoka Music Men chimed in with a wonderful quartet of barbershop -- all the classic songs, like "My Wild Racing Clam"...

now that is a hat!!!   hoping he doesn't meet a brisk breeze, Steve tries to stay upright

Megan and Courteney wielding pens and nail polish to get the clams entered

Zack spent a day getting his watermelon hat wearable

Canada 150 tattoos everywhere!

Brian, resident clamologist, carefully aligns the clams on the start line

David sounds the starting fireworks... and they are off!
