I'll Huff and I'll Puff
Used to be a house made of straw got blown away by the Big Bad Wolf. That was before two big things changed:
a) the wolves got a better P.R. agent, and polished up their image. Now folks come from around the world to the famous Algonquin Park Wolf Howls in August. Here at Bondi, whenever the pack is close enough, we, too, stand on the lawn under the stars and sing with the wolves.
b) we got more environmentally aware. Straw houses are an interesting alternative to some of the more traditional building techniques, but very viable.
So it comes as no great surprise that we're starting to see more and more of this style of construction.
Just down the road, at Foxwood Resort, Rob and Julia are hard at work on the construction of their new Straw Bale house.
It's coming along very quickly, and incorporates all sort of unique and fascinating features, including a floor of polished concrete that looks like marble.
We're looking forward to watching this house take shape, and we can hardly wait for the housewarming party.
