Well, goodness gracious... the weather has been a rollercoaster through the long weekend, with temperatures soaring up close to 30 degrees, and then diving down into the single digits the very next day, only to rise again, only to drop again. Even the lake managed to reflect the changing weather, and while I do love this photo, it doesn't look overly warm!!
As Mom would have said, "take a sweater"
Brian and Dave pulled the water trampoline out of the lake for another year. It gets serviced, neatly folded, and stored under cover waiting for the shouts of excited children to inflate it once again.
They also pulled out one of the ski boats. We won't need them all in the water now, so it just makes sense. These too need to be carefully serviced to maintain them in good shape. We got a lot of phone calls this year from people wanting to rent a boat for part of a day, or to book waterskiing. This is a service we offer to our registered guests only, and we're busy enough doing just that!
We often get calls from people who are renting private cottages, who have discovered that they would like to access some of the services offered by smaller resorts such as ourselves. Hiking trails, boat rentals, waterski lessons, frisbee golf... even the laundromat. Some drop by to try and put their garbage in our dumpster. And some stop to ask if they can fill up their water containers. And on more than one occasion we had folks arrive wanting to let their children play on our beach because the cottage they had booked had a rocky steep shoreline and nobody for the kids to play with. Sorry, we cannot accommodate that.
There seems to be a myth out there that private rental cottages are somehow less crowded or preferable. We refute that... and we'd invite people to look more closely at what services are offered at the smaller family resorts such as ours and those of www.northmuskoka.com
Just saying...
