Kevin Rundle, Equine Dental Specialist, rolls into the stable twice a year.

Care of the horses' teeth goes way beyond just ensuring there are no sharp edges that can catch on the tongue or cheeks, especially when a bit is involved.

The entire balance of the mouth matters to a performance horse.  The most under-appreciated joint is, I think, the TMJ.

It is incredible how that joint, and the hyoid bone in the horse's throat, can actually impact the way a horse moves.

Our vet comes along, too -- she is the one who administers the medication and tranquillizers to make this an easy day for the horses. And we get vaccines done at the same time.

But it is Kevin who is the star of this show.
