Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Whose paws these are, I think I know...

Who has been walking about at night here?  Usually we check along the beach to see who has left us their tracks...

But the newly raked riding arena is a great place, it would seem, to find tracks.

This week we've had the pawprints of raccoons, of deer, a fox and even a neat line of wolf tracks passing through.

And then, this little chap.  He took on the Bear-Proof Dumpster. He won...

It's a bit like an episode of CSI -- we have the forensic evidence of teeth and claws. And determination...

We have motive... and opportunity...

But our bear seems to be safely back in the woods, with no return visits. We have done our best to 'repair' the locked dumpster, and take evasive action with all garbage, so we expect our visitor will just head back out there, now the raspberries are getting ripe, and gather up the food that bears are supposed to be gathering up.

this great photo, by Steve Bruno, was taken in Algonquin Park -- the bear is going about his lawful bearly business, hunting along the edge of the river. This is where we like to see them!

  1. Hopefully the berry season's a very good one for the bears.
