The Deer come for Happy Hour

Years ago our neighbours rescued a young deer that had fallen through the ice just before Christmas. We nursed her back to health in the stable, living with the horses. Christened Noel, she became a minor star of the local papers, radio and TV before she trotted back into the bush five months later. Her story was also written up in Reader's Digest. While she was here, we discovered that she had very eclectic tastes. She adored pineapple, loved bananas... but her very favourite was raisins...

So it's perhaps no surprise that this little deer came happily to the picnic table to nibble on a small snack of bananas and raisins and apples with the Ancient Mariners Club. They were inside, warm and cosy by the fire with their own hors d'ouevres -- outside, equally warm in her thick winter coat, the deer was very happy to join them for Happy Hour!
