True North Dancing with Huskies
The expression "Mush" comes from the French verb, "marchez", a word hollered by the dog sled drivers in the ever so brief moment before the dogs began to run. Huskies love to run. If you ever have the chance to attend a dog sled race, you'll notice that the dogs are jumping and barking frantically at the start line, and at the dog lines. But as soon as they come off that starting line, the dogs run silent.
There are several companies near Bondi that offer the experience of dog-sledding. You can go out for a few hours, half a day, a full day, or even overnight with some of them! It's a fantastic winter experience.
While they were staying with us at Bondi this Christmas, Wendy -- in charge of the team -- and daughter Rebecca, enjoyed a day out with Winterdance dogs, cruising through the beautiful winter landscapes near the Haliburton Forest Reserve.
Driving a dog team is an experience that should be seized if you ever have the opportunity. They're WWWAAAAYYY better than snowmobiles! (I think...)

ReplyDeleteI hope to bring mine up to date over the next two or three weeks, so please bear with me while I do some serious typing. In the meantime--my own computer needs to be fixed, having died only a day after returning from Kenya... Mike xox
