The flat water river winds and turns and drifts into Dwight Bay, which is when the paddling starts. From there it is a paddle to the Portage, and back into Haystack Bay to be home in time for lunch!
This river is considered to be a heritage property in the Lake of Bays, with no development along its shores. In fact, this part of the river, right here at the Falls, has recently been acquired by the Lake of Bays Heritage Foundation, and put into a land trust to protect it forever.
That river has a whole lot of character, and appeal to me. It's good that it's kept in an undeveloped state.
