Pas de Duex
Krysti and Bailey found themselves in the midst of a dressage
"pas de deux" on Thursday. That's our orphaned deer, who has been showing up regularly since last autumn after her mom was hit by a car. She sneaks to the stable, steals the chicken food, and helps herself during the winter to the horses' outside hay bale. During the summer, we often find her hanging out in the pasture with the horses, who have more or less adopted her.
This isn't the first time Krysti and Bailey have found themselves "dancing with deer" in a lesson. One day, in the midst of a jumping school, Bailey was quite taken aback when a big buck came sailing down from the road, floated over the 5' pasture fence into the riding ring, and without a sideways glance blew past Bailey and floated over the 7' (seven foot!) wire fence around the garden. The gray's expression was more of less, "good heavens, tell me I don't have to jump THAT, too!!!!"
The buck zipped through the garden, sailed out, and headed off into the bush. We have no idea what inspired his flight, but he certainly was an inspiration to the horses!
