A great photo of both our friends at Lumina Resort (in the foreground) and Bondi Village Resort at the end of Bondi Bay. We've got housekeeping cottages open at Thanksgiving too... not many, but a few. Lumina, with their meal plan and great chef, or Bondi, where you have a well equipped kitchen (and fresh organic eggs from our hens ) whichever is your favourite way to get away, we've got the colour, and the quiet. Both our resorts have limited vacancies for the Thanksgiving Long Weekend, which is fast approaching.

Getting in the Swim.
His name is Dave but watching him in the lake today we are tempted to call him "Bob" 😜. At 74 degrees / 23 c on September 14, it's warmer than it was in August
Tricks of the Light
Early morning dew and floating colours on Sept. 13. Hard to catch these, with the water washing over the leaf, and the sun sparkling the cobwebs...
the Song I Sing...
A wake up call from the baby Roo. (We are calling him Kanga Roo-ster). He has been working on his vocals, and is ready to sing you the song of his people.
He will be looking for a forever home in a few weeks time. An Americauna, he carries the genes to help his hens produce 'easter egger' coloured eggs (in blues and greens). He's handsome, and very well behaved...
So we are hoping he will find a perfect home. We'd keep him, but then we'd have sooooo many little chicks, where would we put them all?
Up, Down, Colour All around
Deb Bradley captured some of the beauty brewing in the Lake of Bays this autumn
Debbie Bradley added 2 new photos.
Sat on our dock at the pond for a brief pause (before the storm - so to speak) last night, to take in the glory of fall colours and approaching autumn season. ❤️
Thinking of Thanksgiving?
Thinking about Thanksgiving ? We have a few cottages still available. Two, three, four and even our big six bedroom Lodge which is perfect for a family gathering of ten to eighteen people
Morton Muskoka Chairs
This beautiful kids picnic table was created for Megan and David by Morton Muskoka Chairs! David reports it's a little snug but comfortable once seated! Beautiful work. Check them out.
Chilly morning lavenders
Chilly mornings make for great pictures! The air was only a couple degrees above zero this morning though the water is still much warmer (which probably explains why the ducks don't want to get out). Dave took this on Sept. 2nd.
Sharing the Love.
Thanks for the ride, Snowbird! Ciarra shares some love. While our weekly scheduled pony rides are done for the summer, there are still lots of 'littles' who enjoy Pony Time.

Beauty in Small Things
Taffy and I walked up to the edge of the Spruce Bog -- and yes, it was WET in there, but I was good with just low boots on. Taffy had fun getting muddy paws...
'are you sure this IS the trail, Mom???' |
The growth of ferns and wildflowers is amazing this year. In places, they are almost over my head, rioting with flowers. But I was looking down, partly to be sure I could find places to step that weren't flooded... And so I found beauty in the small things...

Wednesday Tubing -- First Time!
Megan and Janet are on their first trip to Canada -- Wednesday, we took them tubing. Big smiles, and lots of great tales to take back home to England with them! This is summer in Canada! Tuesday we taught them the 'correct' way to make a Canadian bonfire s'more... and got the wolves to answer our call in the evening. Today they are off into Algonquin Park for the day. they might just need to stay longer to rest up! #bondivillageresort #explorersedge#familytimes
Last Marathon Swim of the Season
Summer is starting to give way to Autumn -- another beautiful season in Muskoka. This morning was the last of our escorted distance swims at the resort for the summer season. The water was a balmy 69 degrees (20.5 C) and the air was a less balmy 50 degrees (10 C) -- which did make the lake feel really warm, until you stepped out into that north wind! Olivia and Esmee show the way, as they barrel off the dock!
Every One is a Victory
Finding these treasures makes my heart sing. The chrysalis was on the wood the BMD were splitting and they carefully moved it to keep it safe. They are good guys ❤️
Charmed!
I would have to say our Dark Skies tonight was a big success. Lots of guests out for the occasion, a lovely clear sky in the north (half a moon chewing up the southern sky though). We heard the barred owl. And crickets chirping out the temperature. Everything stopped while the loon called in our bay. And the wolf pack answered when we called... We learned how to find 16 different constellations and admired the Milky Way... (the photo is from last summer, one of our guests sent it to us, and we think it is wonderful) Being outside after dark, getting to know the 'neighbours' is a magical experience. This photo was taken by Devin Crawley, who gets magical photographs suited for such magical moments.
Painted
These faces, last week. More memories Sarah was the artist (well, except for Gavin and Jack, who did their own 'belly faces' ❤️
