Sunset at the Solstice
It's Summer!
Butterfly on clover -- taking it easy... Did I mention that we still have some vacancies this summer?
There's 'littles' in the barn!
And we have four new chicks! They look like chipmunks, all striped... (did Felonious Munk have anything to do with this???)
Last week, the spruce and pine bloomed!
Every year the spruce and pine release vast quantities of pollen. In the air it looks like smoke billowing from the trees. Settled in the lakes it looks like this. It's natural and harmless but does make a bit of a mess. Life tends to be like that. It's good news for fish and frogs and water bugs who feast And it's soon gone

Rototilling the garden today and doing our best to stay ahead of the weeds. The corn is coming along nicely!

All our cottages have bbq's and a private canoe, and rates also include a free tube ride, our famous beach cookout and our Dark Skies and Wolves program. We also have pony rides, and fresh eggs you can collect (or we'll deliver) from our free range hens. Our hiking trails and frisbee golf course increase your chances of seeing wildlife.
And of course there is our 1200' of beachfront, with sand pile, play cabin, water trampoline, climbing iceburg, waterslide and more.

Flying flowers
The first monarchs showed up this week
They are still much more rare than they used to be -- keep that milkweed in your gardens, people. The swallowtails, however, are plentiful!

Wildlife
The wildlife around here never rests which means there’s always something for you to see, and spring is definitely no exception! This baby fawn was spotted sunning itself by one of our wood piles while waiting for its mother. And this snapping turtle is the first one to nest at Megan and David’s house this year! #muskoka #wildlife #explore #cottage #vacation
The Lion's Club answers the call
There are new Public Washrooms in Dwight. An excellent addition to the beach, and the hamlet in general. And they are lovely.

Full marks to the Lion's Club, who undertook this project for Canada 150, and not only fundraised but pitched in with 'bricks and mortar' to make it happen

Historically, she never sailed here -- her "beat" was Bigwin, and Norway Point, but this year we are w
elcoming the S S Bigwin to Dwight
She's sailing from Dwight on Tuesday -- same day as the farmer's market.
Another great experience, just waiting for you to come aboard.

Tiny perfect flowers...woodland violets, strawberries, trilliums... it's so beautiful out there
The rhythm of the seasons
With the warm weather here we’ve been putting a lot of time into our organic garden! Everything has been tilled and the potatoes and corn have been planted! Now we wait... And of note is that the seeder Brian is using to plant the corn was the original from Bondi in the early 1900's!
