Lake levels are rising fast. With the recent increase in temperature, and the rain we had last week, the snow has melted, the ice is gone from the lakes, and all that translates into increased amounts of water in the lake.
All of which is fine... unless we get a storm, and high winds. Then the water will pound at the docks, lifting the wooden planks and causing a lot of damage.
To help hold the docks down, the fastest way we've found is to put these big barrels out, then bail them full of water to give them weight. When the water recedes, it is easy to tip them over to get them back to something more manageable when we are ready to remove them.
Today, the ducks were able to actually paddle right across the dock. Hopefully this is as high as it gets!
