Synchronized lawn mowing. A thing of beauty. Even more lovely were the swallows, dipping and swooping behind the mowers. A swallow will consume about 900 mosquitoes a day. Our barn swallows, with 6 fledglings, are therefore snapping down about 7200 mosquitoes a day. Go team!!!! (note that with one nest in the stable, we also have two other barn swallow nests, an uncounted number of tree swallows, and at least three phoebe nests. Mosquitoes don't stand a chance)
