Credit Due

Congratulations to the Tasso, Toad, Camp and Blue Lake Association. Charles Cooper and friends recently held a fundraising bbq at John Marshall's cottages on the shore of Tasso Lake. The BBQ featured aged beef from Big Daddy's, which the Cooper's put on the bbq at 4 in the morning. Plenty of salads and chips, and a plethora of people ensured there was never a dull moment. It was astounding how many people were on the waterfront, without all of us falling into the lake!

In addition to a great dinner, they had a band at the big cottage.

The Marshall's have been on the lake since 1957. Recently they rebuilt one cottage into something quite spectacular, and they are a good role model for reconstruction. Set well back from the water, the cottage is invisible from out on Tasso Lake. Set down from the road, it vanishes from the roadside view. Yet the cottage itself is breathtaking. Their daughter is a musician, and the Marshall's cajoled her music teacher into coming with his band -- set up on the big front porch, there was a whole lot of dancing going on in front of the cottage well into the evening.

Almost $2700 was raised at this event. Half goes to the Interlaken Fire Hall, Station 50. The other half goes to the Huntsville Hospital. Both are extremely worthwhile causes to support!

A great deal of credit is due to Charles and John and the rest of the group that organized and hosted this event. And to the spirited support it received from the great bunch of people who live up in that very northern end of the Lake of Bays, rubbing shoulders with Algonquin Park.
And a big Thank You, from myself, for being invited!
