Squeegee the super pony had quite a day yesterday. It began with him modelling for resident artists Alaina and Katie, while Julia and Kayle scrubbed and polished his coat.
Kayle learned how to braid his mane. Julia put on his hoof dressing, and learned how to create 'checkerboards' on his hindquarters, just like the international show jumpers wear.
Once he was primped and fluffed, he came out to give Pony Rides to some of our youngest guests. He is a model of patience and understanding, doing his best impersonation of a statue while tiny little Amelia worked up the courage to sit on him. He marched out briskly with Julia in the saddle, and delivered Kayle to her dad, who was waiting at the main dock with their boat.
Hugh, who has just this week learned how to swim, was keen to have a 'go'. Wearing his lifejacket, and a helmet, he was ready for anything. Should Squeegee take to the lake, Hugh would be all set. And, yes, the pony does go swimming...
supermodel to superstar, all in one afternoon.
Today, Julia and Kayle went up to Algonquin Highlands Trail Riding, at nearby Oxtongue Lake, with the rest of their families to go trail riding with Tracey and her horses. This is one of three trail riding facilities located within a half hour drive of Bondi Village. Off the grid and naturally rustic, Algonquin Highlands focuses on having calm, mellow horses that are far more suitable for beginner riders or casual trail riders than are, well, for instance, Nancy's horse Blizzard... Not all the Bondi horses are in line for Sainthood along with Squeegee... which is why we don't offer trail rides.
We leave that to Algonquin Highlands Trail Rides.
