Some of our guests turn that last night into a special occasion, and this year the Dalgarno's chose to light up the volleyball net with glowsticks under the waxing moon.
Out there, under the perfectly clear and starry sky, with moonshadow all around, it was hard to contemplate just going back inside, let alone packing up. There was plenty of light to see by, nobody needed a flashlight, and the temperature was perfect for stargazing.
The moon washed out Sagitarius, but we got a good look at Scorpio, and the Northern Sky was outstanding for star watchers, and later in the night there was quite a send-off serenade by not only the local wolf pack, but the barred owl contingent. Quinn told me it was the first time he'd ever heard both wolves and owls at the same time.
He's off to the Robert Bateman 'Get to Know' camp in B.C. next week, and we cannot wait to see what photographs he brings home from that experience! He has a remarkable 'eye' for pattern and colours, and the patience to wait for the wildlife photo, so B.C. will bring him lots of opportunities! It's hard for us to see our guests leaving -- they become part of our family too, but we always look forward to seeing them return next season!
