Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

All the Fish in the Sea

John and Vic come up every winter for a few days of ice fishing.
We don't have fish huts, but for purists like these lads, they prefer to be out on the ice, in the sunshine for the afternoon in any case. Our bay is quite sheltered, so doesn't get the big winds that can plaque 'ice-sitters' in other locations!
They start out in Haystack Bay, and gradually work their way down towards Bigwin Island...
And usually they go home with a fish. This day, however, perhaps it was the dazzling sunlight on the ice that kept the fish down deep...
A bad day fishing, however, still beats a good day working, as they like to tell me, and they stopped off at The Bush Co. restaurant just down the road for great wings and caesar salad before heading home, counting the trip a big success even if they left all the fish in the sea!
