Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Thaw

The one thing that doesn't 'work' in winter is rain.
We were really fortunate -- the forecast rain here held off until Sunday, so despite mild temperatures, our guests were able to enjoy the outdoors. Skiing, tubing, tobogganing took over as the favoured activities, as the rink was getting just too soft. The crafting of snowmen and snowballs was, however, at its finest.
Then, Sunday, the rain set in. There is bad news, and good news. The bad news is that until it gets cold, the ski trails are closed. The lake is completely flooded (David went out on it and augered some holes, just so he could watch the water drain away in places)
The good news is that the roads are completely clear, and when it cools (which is forecast to happen soon) we will have a skating rink that stretches from here to Hallelujah! The whole bay will be our rink!
A few inches of snow will put the ski trails back in business.
In the meantime, we know just how our chicken felt, outside in the rain.
David and Brian both had models to build -- the lads hit a craft store that was going out of business, and they brought home quite a stash. Dave took advantage of the indoor time to put the finishing touches on his model Otter.
And took time to ponder why planes were named for Otters, Beavers, Cubs... but never Groundhogs... One of life's enduring mysteries, for the Piper Aircraft Company to answer...
