The Midnight Skunk

It was all going so well...

Right up until Taffy and I went outside last night for her last 'patrol', at midnight.

All of a sudden, there was a scent wafting across the lawn.  Not a good one...  Sure enough, Taffy had met her first skunk.

That darned black and white 'kitty', who seemed so friendly until she got really close, just was no fun at all.  Into the tub... and scrub a dub dub.  Laundry into the machine...

Today? Rinse and repeat.  At least the lake let us rinse her off well, now she's learned to swim.

The recipe? Forget the tomato juice, because you'll not only never have enough, but you'll just wind up with a pinkish coloured dog that smells skunky.  If you don't have a commercial product on hand, go with this:
1 litre peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
2 tbsp. dish detergent.

Soak it onto the dog, and work it well in.  Let it work for about 4 to 5 minutes, rinse... and possibly repeat.

Tonight, just in case, she's going out on a leash.
