The deer went that-a-way. The fox went this-a-way. That's the fun thing about snow -- you can see where your neighbours are!
This was our first snow of the year. At least the first that stayed on the ground, even briefly. That may have some folks groaning -- they are the ones who don't comprehend winter, the Canadian changing seasons. The fact that in just 120 days or so Spring will be here again. That goes pretty quick. In the meantime, there is a whole slew of new sports, activities, sights, sounds, seasons. Might as well enjoy it...
I had a phone call today from Snowmobilers in Rochester, N.Y. They've heard about the fabulous snowmobile trails here at Lake of Bays. They wanted to book accommodation, planning well in advance because they know how they like to spend winter. Winter isn't just for sled-heads. Skiers -- both the downhill party-crowd and the lovers of the silent woods nordic variety -- snowshoers, those who love to slide down hills, skate on open lakes instead of inside stuffy arenas, those who like the way sun sparkles so brightly it hurts the eyes bouncing off the snow, those who love to watch the birds come to the feeders, and those who are longing for a good excuse to stay inside, curled up by the fire with a drink in one hand, a book in the other -- winter has something for all of those.
You really should give it a try!
