Some photos from the 91st annual Anglican Church Regatta, hosted this summer at Lumina Resort. The wind was cool -- and played absolute havoc with the canoe races, where some of the young paddlers had an over-abundance of Spirit and an under-abundance of steering, but a good time was had all the same!
Steve really got into the action in the Mens' Single Canoe race!
There were plenty of entries -- some of the swim races had to be divided into two heats! And since it was warmer IN the water than out of it, that wasn't a problem!

crab race in action! |
Our favourite race had to be the very challenging Crab Race -- an open race for any age of paddler, this is a toughy. The paddler sits in the bow, facing the bow -- so the rest of the canoe stands up behind like the tail of a labrador retriever and waves in the on-shore wind!

congratulations Graeme on winning that tricky race! |
Young Graeme put away the competition to win this one!
He also did very well with his cousin Lindsay in the Hands Only race. It would seem he has a knack for these less usual ways to paddle!
Congratulations to everyone who came and took part -- even if you simply cruised through the Bake Sale and signed up for the Silent Auction Items, you helped make the day a success!
It looks like a lot of people came out!
