FORE!!!
Ah, golf... Spring is in the air, and thoughts turn to Fairways and 9 irons. Or something like.
Brian and Dave took to the links on a bright and sunny March 1st, for a rousing round of Lake Golf. Never played? Well, you are in for a treat. We recommend older clubs, however, because if you take a divot out of solid lake ice, you'll feel it all the way through your bones... David got around this by creating a "tee" out of a mound of snow.
Still, there's no place better to practice your driving skills.
First, paint the balls a bright colour. White balls in snow -- not such a good plan. Second, try some practice drives, from just along the shoreline, or even off the dock. Then, off we go... Brian is considering creating some 'greens' and putting flags into holes (about the diameter of the average ice auger) as a refinement to the game as currently played.
David is lamenting the fact that he lost several balls in the water hazard adjacent to the dock...
Both lads were sporting approved golf footwear -- with cleats.
And once they found themselves halfway up in the shoreline trees, hacking out of the 'rough'.
We're wondering if there's a tournament to be created out of this (and if there is, we Call the Idea! Patent #1700004) Or at the very least, perhaps a "Longest Drive" competition in March. Somebody out there could drive at least to the Island, 1.6 km. away, don't you think???
