Just Keep Swimming...

The thunderstorm that ripped through yesterday evening managed to drop the lake temperature.

Despite the chilly water, twelve intrepid swimmers appeared on the Main Dock for the Marathon Swim, nine of them keen to tackle the Island. That's 1.6 km., and that is a LONG way in cool water.

Particularly if you are JoJo, who is one of the youngest swimmers we've ever had tackle the Island swim, and who doesn't have a whole lot of body mass to keep away the cold!

There were some odd squeaking noises heard at the Island when the swimmers hit the water, but soon the sound effects dwindled to the sound of Rebecca, Madison and JoJo dreaming aloud of hot chocolate. As always, the Island swimmers spread out across the bay, each with an escort boat. Shahira in the lead, as always, but JoJo's brother Will wasn't far behind, nor was Aunt Wendy. It can be hard to swim in a straight line, especially with the siren song of a hot breakfast being served at neighbouring Lumina Resort to pull you off course!

Like Dora, in Finding Nemo, the girls Just Kept Swimming...

Swimming in a crowd of cousins, aunts and uncles, the young girls (ages 11, 12 and 13) made it all the way back, 1.6 km. And they got to the dock before their Uncle James, in the bargain!
