Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Seeing Shadows

It's Groundhog Day, and all over the country, little sleeping balls of fur woke up, crawled out into the light of day, and peered blearily about them to predict the end of winter.

We love this little ritual... After all, if the Groundhog sees his/her shadow, we're in for six more weeks of winter. Or, if it's overcast, we'll be counting on seeing the end of winter in, oh, about a month and half.

Never mind the groundhogs... we sent Dave outside to take a look... and Yes, he saw his shadow! Now, we're not saying he's as accurate as a groundhog. For that, we'd need to check in with the Muskoka Wildlife Centre, and their resident Groundhog, CLOVER.

We prefer these local forecasts from Clover to the ramblings of far flung Punxsutawney Phil or Canada's Wiarton Willie.

But you know, we're willing to gamble on David's shadow, too!

  1. I need six more weeks of winter...I haven't been tobogganing yet! And if I can't have 6 weeks, I'll take a month and a half...almost as good.
