Time to Assemble for Winter Fun
Here's another date to circle on your calendar, and plan to be in North Muskoka and Algonquin Park. February 20.. It's a biggie!
For 15 years now, Algonquin Outfitters has been hosting a great winter experience over on Oxtongue Lake. For 14 of those years, they called it the Winter Assembly... now, having realized that the whole reason folks are assembling in the first place is because it's so much fun, they've renamed it the Winter Fun Day. And if you knew Winter like the Algonquin Outfitters' folk know winter, you'd know why! This is your chance to try out all sorts of new gear for outdoor sports that are powered by people. It's what they term, "self-propelled -- or at least non-motorized -- winter activities. That would include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skate skiing, sledding, winter camping and dog sledding, as well as provide a host of opportunities to have fun in the snow.
You can learn to cross country ski with Dan Mahoney from Ski for Life, check out the best ski gear, try some of the latest greatest snowshoes (and believe me, these new 'shoes are great! And I speak from years of experience tromping about in the bush with various fashionista snowshoes on my feet!) There's snow games, including snow Volleyball (not played in skimpy swimsuits, sadly, but other than that, it's every bit as crazy as beach volleyball!) bbq lunch, even dog sleds on hand to take you for a short spin. Go for a snowshoe hike in to Ragged Falls, try out a kick-sled... I could go on, but that's what the smiling crew at AO are there for.
If you need a place to stay, so you can take full advantage of the Winter Fun Day and the whole weekend, Bondi Village Resort is currently offering Winter Super Specials. Check out the gear, then come to our fantastic trails to spend another day enjoying the snow. Call us for details.
Winter Fun. It's just better here!
