Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

crafting the perfect 'smore

Sue and Andrea are the Masterchefs of the S'mores at our weekly cookout and bonfire.

There is an art to the s'more. It is, taken to the essence, graham crackers sandwiching a perfectly roasted marshmallow and some ooey gooey chocolate.

But that is oversimplifying it.

One needs the bonfire, with the perfect blend of flames and coals.

The right length and strength of stick to support the marshmallow.  And great attention must be paid to the actual toasting process.  Too long, too close and it's too toasty...   There is skill in getting it Just Right.

Then the marshmallow, still hot and gooey, must be captured gently between the crackers...

And savoured.

And savoured some more...

It can take years of practice to get the roasting right...

And a few people have mastered the art of the Two At Once technique...

But however you like your marshmallow, there is nothing better than time spent on a beach at a bonfire, roasting stick in hand.
