Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

The Photo Finish

Here's a shot of the clams, at the finish of the Clam Race.  We don't care which way they run. Brian, our clamologist, has a finely calibrated hockey stick with a wheel on the end that he uses to trace the track.

Measurement was a little complicated by a fine drizzle that disturbed the lake surface, but Brian is made of hardy stuff.  A few clams always cross their tracks, as you can see above, so it is crucial that they have a number and that Brian knows where they started from.

It's impressive the number of guests who come down to watch the measuring, even on a drizzly day!

The winner was Clamantine II, who zoomed 66 inches.

Silver medal position went to both Clammy Hands and Clam of My Heart, at 44.
Bronze medal to IronClam, and in the Reserve position, Mink Killer...

Speaking of which, the muskrat living in the bay did NOT disturb the racing clams. This, despite the evidence that he has been serving up clams on his dinner table most of the spring...
