April always has at least one snowstorm. Gloria Woodside sent us this photo of the mergansers, hunkered down against the bad weather as they swam past her cottage.
They're doing better now. Dave was in shirtsleeves while working on some dock repairs, and the lake ice has come 'undone' from the shores, opening up lots of water for the ducks, and giving the sun lots of places to sparkle.
Spring is here! This is the absolutely best time to see moose in Algonquin Park, and to walk in the woods before any flies have appeared. Late April and early May are hikers' and birdwatchers' prime time!
And the Mergansers like it too!
