Last Sail Standing
It was windy yesterday. A stiff breeze, as they say Down East, when a chain hung from the mast stands straight out in the wind.
It was also the Pen Lake Association Sailing Race.
There were 15 boats that jockeyed for position going to the start. Lesser mortals would have looked at the wind pennants snapping from the masts, and stayed ashore with a tall drink.
Two finished. The rest got a long drink, in the lake.
This was not the result the Pen Lakers had in mind when the race began. Nothing daunted, they're going to run another race this coming Saturday. They're still looking for a Ladies' winner... and an Albacore that stays upright for the Albacore trophy.
