Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Season's Change

Tonight we "Spring Forward", setting the clocks ahead one hour.  Try to remember...

The Agility Dogs are coming in tomorrow, bright and early, to practice in the indoor arena, so I'd better not forget to set the alarm.

For some folk, that time change signals the change in the Season.

For us, it's even more basic.  It's when the Fishhut comes in off the ice.  It has been out there, through all the wintry weather, perched over 40' of deep water.  It has sheltered the lads while they tried out different baits and lures.  It has, truth be told, also sheltered the fish, who escaped pretty much unharmed from the experience.  Still, 'tis better to Fish Hopefully than not to fish at all.

It's a bit of a process, moving the hut. It keeps the BMD busy -- and when they stop to chat, it always needs a bit of a push to get it moving again. Some days we know just how it feels.

Right now, under a thin skiff of snow, we've got fantastic ice conditions in Bondi Bay. Lace up your skates kind of ice conditions.  You could skate anywhere out there.  That's pretty typical of March in Muskoka.   This is a good bay for ice, too. It is sheltered, and while two small streams and several springs replenish the water, none of them is large enough to create serious currents.

The hut will spend the next few seasons up on shore. It's parked right by the BBQ Barge -- which will be the next thing being readied for its season out there on the bay.

That thought turns our minds from winter  to summer far more intensely than changing the clocks!
