The picture was taken yesterday evening, while Taffy and I hiked across Bondi Bay.
That moon, which is going to play havoc with my star gazing habit this week, is waxing full.
Recently I learned how to tell if the moon is waxing or waning. A little snippet of lost knowledge, which I'm happy to share.
When you half a partial moon in the sky, draw a line along the straight edge of that moon. Does it form a "p" or a "d"? Think of your rusty lessons in French: premier means first. Dernier means last... So if the moon and your imaginary line form a 'p', the moon is beginning -- on its way to being full. Waxing.
If it forms a 'd', the full moon is over, that is behind us now, and the moon is waning.
Simple, yes?
