Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Swim, Swam, Swum

There are as many ways to get into the lake as there are swimmers.

Brian opted for the leisurely 'strolling on in' approach.
While Nate and Uncle Greg went for the 'feet first' entry.
And Graham sought extra style points for the 'dive.'  (with a little encouragement from Taffy)

These were the four who swam to the Point and Back -- a 1km. swim, with us on Thursday morning. Under the watchful eye of Sarah, in the 'command kayak'.
At the Island, there are a few less options since we all start together for that 1.6 km. swim home.  Here the variety of entry is often more vocal than phsyical.

We get such great participation for this weekly swim from our guests -- and not just from those who come to swim.

We are very grateful for the folks who come out to provide escort services, be it in motor boat, kayak, or canoe.

Swimmers swim at different speeds, and it is important that there be an escort boat close by.  Although we go early in the morning, there can be other boats out there, speeding about, and one of the important jobs of the escort boats is to notify other boaters that there are people in the water.

Of course, it is also great to paddle alongside your friends and family, snug and warm in your canoe, while they swim alongside.

Anytime people are swimming a distance, it's good to have plenty of watching eyes...

This week it was joyful to see three generations swimming together! Arlene, who has never yet missed an Island swim, Lisa and grandson Tim -- who was swimming with a very sporty black cast on his broken arm!  The Family that Swims Together...

Back on the dock, there are smiles all around before heading back to the cottages for breakfast!

  1. If it's cold, all you can do is jump in all at once and get it over with!
