Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Hitting the Trails -- Sled Style

The easiest way to transfer gear from truck to cottage?  Snowmobile!

At least that was the choice of our guests who arrived yesterday to run the Algonquin Snowmobile Club trails.

And yes, that is a heavy snowfall they are riding in last evening.
That snow has really helped out with road running for the sleds.   Tim reports that all the Clubs in this area are grooming -- sometimes doing two shifts a day -- to get the trails into tip-top condition.

The Dorset Poker Run is today -- trail  65 from Troutspawn Lake to the Algonquin Shelter was touched up  by ASC, with Tall Pines covering the rest of the route last night. The route has been updated, and will now come north on D101B from Dorset to the Algonquin Shelter then 65 back to 64 (with the optional longer run on 66) and back to the Lions Camp. There are plenty of signs posted along the route.

There is a report of a Moose kill off the trail on 66. We did hear that there was a Moose in that area that was not looking very good -- sounds like the wolves have cause to celebrate.  If you are riding in that area, keep an eye out for this and (if you're lucky) the chance to spot one of the Bald Eagles now hanging out in the area as well.

It looks like its going to be a bit chilly in the morning but we will have a fire going throughout the day at the Shelter.
