Bondi Resort Blog

Come on into our Blog for a look at the wonderful world we've got to share! With over 240 hectares (600 acres) of wilderness woodlands surrounding the resort, just ten minutes from Algonquin Park, we feature over 400 metres (1200’) of waterfront and beach; boat rentals; summer hiking trails winding through fields and woods; 20 km. of groomed cross country ski trails and snowshoeing in winter; access to nearby snowmobile trails for sledders, and a toboggan hill for the young at heart.

Poetry in Patterns - Frost Writes a Rime

Look at the beautiful artwork Nature left along the shore this morning!  This is soft rime frost, the milky white feathery type of frost.

It's formed along the edges of the various springs by the main dock.

These springs are beautiful things all by themselves -- and much easier to admire at this time of year than in summer, when they are underwater!

In the winter, the Lake of Bays is drawn down by the dam at Baysville to ensure that there will not be big issues with the spring flood.  The lake is drawn low in the late fall, to make sure the fish spawn in deeper water and those precious eggs won't be frozen when the lake is lowered at this time of year.  It's complicated.

These fantastic poems in frost are among the most beautiful things on the planet.

Very fragile, they vanish when there is much snowfall on top of them...  but these conditions have been absolutely perfect for their appearance.

Enjoy.
