The BMD (Bondi Maintenance Dept.) took some time off this week to check out the Snowmobile trails.
Algonquin Snowmobile Club volunteers have been hard at work both getting and keeping the trails in shape, and while the lakes are still not what they could be (and we always encourage everyone to be sure they Know Before They Go when it comes to travel on ice -- check the ASC website for trail updates) the mainland trails are doing just fine.
Coming up on February 11 is the Club`s BBQ at the Shelter, including Family Day and a Poker Run to Dorset. All the details are on their site.
The BMD stopped long enough for a Photo Op at the Oxtongue Rapids. The ASC maintains the Hunter`s Bridge, safely carrying snowmobiles over this picturesque river. It`s a beautiful place for a picnic at any season. In winter white, it`s particularly impressive.
Being able to get out into the woods, and find places like this, is one of the big reasons why many people enjoy snowmobiling. You can get places you just won`t travel to on skis or on foot... And provided everyone respects the trails, the regulations, the landowners and the machines themselves, it`s a great activity for the whole family.
It`s been a slow start to the winter snowmobile season, but the trails are great up here now, so it`s a great opportunity to come out and Git Your Sled On.
